CAC Card Access

Deque’s WorldSpace Comply, used throughout the Federal Government for web accessibility testing and Section 508 compliance reporting, has extended user authentication and single sign-on (SSO) to smart cards. Software products used by Federal Government Agencies like the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA)  must require users to log in using their Common Access Cards (CAC).

Federal Government employees and contractors can now use their CAC smart card to login to WorldSpace Comply.  WorldSpace Comply is designed to work with CAC cards, smart cards or PIV cards from any vendor.  System administrators save time by relying on their standard authentication system and are assured that any changes to access authorization are immediately and automatically enforced in the WorldSpace system itself without any additional effort or diligence being required on their part.  This improves the IT security posture of the entire agency.

WorldSpace Comply automatically scans and reports the level of compliance with web accessibility standards at several large agencies with mature web or mobile application development processes. Many of these applications require users to log in using their CAC cards.  In this type of secure environment, traditional accessibility tools simply don’t work.  According to our Federal Government customers, Deque’s WorldSpace is the only accessibility monitoring and reporting software that can scan web applications that require CAC authentication.

WorldSpace tests for Section 508 (§ 1194.22), Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0), Trusted Tester and agency-specific custom standards. It is capable of scanning HTML-based applications, websites, PDF® documents and forms as well as SharePoint® sites.  In addition to reporting, WorldSpace Comply provides software developers and testers with detailed instructions on how to locate and remediate accessibility defects.  Since it is used for applications internal to the agency and those facing the public, it must comply with Federal Government’s IT security requirements.

“We’re proud to support client certificate authentication and to be one of the few vendors already making our products available via CAC card access”, said Dylan Barrell, CTO and head of WorldSpace Product Development at Deque.

Client certificate authentication is available to existing Deque customers today. Contact us for more information about getting started.
