The Financial Brand posted a very interesting article on Friday about the importance of making sure your website is ADA compliant:

“Could Your Banking Website Be The Target Of A Lawsuit?” – TheFinancialBrand.com

The Next Frontier

In the piece, Virginia-based attorney Brian G. Muse is quoted as saying, “Websites in many ways are becoming the next frontier for ADA litigation. … For the past 10 years, we’ve seen an explosion of these lawsuits. Plaintiffs’ attorneys are entitled to recover attorneys’ fees in these cases, so it’s very lucrative for lawyers.”  He goes on to say, “I don’t want to sound like an alarmist, but the point is you need to pay attention to accessibility and perhaps modify your site … You do that by getting legal advice from qualified attorneys and by getting technical assistance from industry professionals that can provide proper assistance on achieving compliance.”

Experience Matters

At Deque, we have a great deal of experience working with clients in the financial industry and offer many services for banks looking to make their web content accessible.  If you’d like to learn more on how the ADA impacts your banking website, please download our free Web Accessibility for the Banking Industry white paper; or, better yet, sign up for our ADA Web Compliance Readiness Package.
