Back End Engineer – Internal systems

Position description

Deque is seeking a skilled Software Engineer to join our Internal Systems team. In this role, you will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and integration of our core internal business applications. You will divide your focus between developing a core TypeScript and Node.js web application used for post-sale operations and collaborating with our systems architect and senior developer to build out solutions on the Salesforce platform.

Additionally, you will lead the DevOps strategy for the internal systems squad, ensuring efficient CI/CD pipelines, robust testing automation, and reliable release management. The ideal candidate is an AI-forward engineer who regularly utilizes modern AI-assisted development tools to optimize their workflow and write clean, scalable code.

Responsibilities

  • Application Development: Maintain, optimize, and expand a core TypeScript and Node.js web application used for post-sale support and renewal management.
  • CRM Platform Development: Collaborate with the team architect and senior developer to design and implement custom solutions within Salesforce using Apex, SOQL, and Lightning Web Components (LWC).
  • Lead DevOps Practices: Own and optimize the team’s CI/CD pipelines, version control workflows, and automated deployment strategies across both cloud and CRM environments.
  • Integrations: Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable RESTful integrations between our internal web applications, the CRM platform, and external third-party APIs.
  • Development Efficiency: Actively utilize AI coding assistants to accelerate development velocity, improve documentation, and increase unit test coverage.
  • Process Automation: Triage technical support requests, resolve system defects, and continuously identify opportunities to automate manual engineering processes.

Requirements

  • Professional Experience: 3+ years of experience in professional full-stack software engineering, with a strong emphasis on TypeScript and Node.js.
  • DevOps Leadership: Proven experience managing code repositories, defining branching strategies, and building CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Gearset, or Copado.
  • CRM Platform Familiarity: Hands-on experience developing within the Salesforce platform (Apex, LWC, Flows), or a strong background in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) with a demonstrated ability to rapidly adapt to enterprise CRM architectures.
  • API Development: Deep understanding of RESTful API design, data serialization, and secure integration patterns.
  • AI Tooling Proficiency: Daily usage of AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to maximize coding efficiency and code quality.
  • Agile Mindset: Comfortable working within a structured Agile environment, participating in sprint planning, and contributing to code reviews.

Additional Skills

  • Experience with Quote-to-Cash, CPQ, or Revenue Cloud systems.
  • Experience deploying and managing applications within cloud environments, specifically Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Salesforce Platform Developer I (PDI) or relevant DevOps certifications.
  • Experience working within a SaaS business model.
