The US Digital Accessibility Legal Update
Description
Digital accessibility is a civil right of disabled people, and 2025 was a tough year for people who care about civil rights in the United States. This talk will offer a lightning overview of what’s happening in the United States digital accessibility legal space and provide resources to help you stay current. We’ll touch on why we need to start thinking about how the laws of other countries are part of the US digital legal landscape too – including the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act in India.
We’ll also be honest about the challenges and find hope in the strong legal foundation that supports digital accessibility and in the advocacy and resistance of disabled people, disability organizations, and allies. This is a talk for everyone: whatever your role. Let’s put the law in our pockets to help build an inclusive digital world.
