Description

When building mobile apps, accessibility often ends up being addressed late in the process, which can make changes harder, slower, and more expensive than they need to be. Even with the best intentions, it’s easy to think of accessibility as a checklist item, something to pass rather than a design principle to embrace. But there’s so much more value in approaching accessibility from the very beginning.

For this talk, Deque experts will share what we’ve learned by building iOS and Android apps specifically with accessibility in mind from day one. Through live demos and examples, we’ll see how features like VoiceOver and Talkback can fit naturally into development, how to go beyond the bare minimum, and how accessibility improves usability for all users. Attendees will leave with strategies to integrate accessibility smoothly into their own mobile projects, saving time, reducing technical debt, and creating apps that work better for everyone.
