Current accessibility practices and policies have achieved positive but limited impact on the accessibility of all things digital and don’t address all types, degrees, and combinations of disabilities well. Advances in AI and related technologies will soon make it easier to make things accessible, and eventually allow us to address accessibility in dramatically new ways that will greatly reduce what companies must do in order to make their products accessible, and allow us to provide access to a much broader range of types, degrees, and combinations of disabilities – including multiple disabilities like deaf-blindness and disabilities that are tough to address well today like cognitive, language, and learning disabilities. The presentation will include a potential roadmap for getting from here to there.
