Designing for neurodiversity
Description
Join Craig Abbott, a design lead, accessibility specialist and former Head of Accessibility in UK Government, as he explores how to design for cognitive accessibility and neurodivergent users.
This talk will break down the importance of designing inclusive products that go beyond compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, which often leave neurodivergent people in the margins. Craig will tackle challenging topics such as unconscious bias and the disability pay gap, highlighting some of the shortcomings he has observed in large organisations.
As an autistic person with ADHD, Craig will share personal insights and discuss the critical role designers play in driving inclusivity, and he will provide many practical examples of how to create products that follow cognitive design principles, meeting the needs of a broader and more diverse audience.
