Complete Technical Check Availability Survey

The deadline will be about two weeks before the event

Closer to the live event, we will schedule a brief tech check with our A/V team. In this meeting, we’ll check your internet, video, and audio set-up, review the logistics below, and cover these accessible presentation best practices.

Optional, but greatly appreciated, to-do: axe-con promo videos!

The mission of axe-con is to bring new people into the accessibility community with free, great content from presenters like yourself. One great way to help support this mission is by promoting your session to your social networks or colleagues.

If you’d like to record a promotional video as well, please feel free to follow this rough script below. Send your video files to marketing@deque.com, and we’ll edit in your name, the Axe-con logo, and the necessary captions. We’ll then share a YouTube link with you privately so that you can promote it as you see fit.

“Hi everyone, I’m [First Name, Last Name] – I’m giving a talk titled [Session Title] at axe-con 2026! I love [Insert favorite animal/food/TV show] and I’m most excited to see [insert another presenter name and talk topic]’s talk at axe-con. I can’t wait to see you there!”

Here are the promo videos from 2025 for some inspiration.

Logistic FAQs

  • Are sessions live or recorded? As a reminder, all axe-con sessions are live. If you cannot present your talk live, please let the marketing team know, and we will work on a solution.
  • How long should my content be for my session? As a reminder, sessions are 50 minutes long. We recommend 40 minutes for content and saving 10 minutes for Q&A.
  • Do I need to present with slides? Slides are optional, but most axe-con presenters choose to present with slides.
  • Is there an axe-con slide template? Nope, please feel free to use your own slide template.
  • Will I be driving my slides during my session? Yes! If you are presenting with slides, you will be advancing them.
  • Can I share a video during my session? Yes! Please let me know if this applies to you so we can give our A/V team a heads-up.
  • How should we handle Q&A? Deque moderators will be in every session to kick things off and take care of housekeeping items. They’ll also help facilitate Q&A and address attendee questions in the chat during your session.
  • Are sessions being recorded? Yes! Sessions are recorded for those who cannot join live and will be available on demand for 6 months afterward.
  • How do I join my session? You will join your session via Zoom; the join information for this Zoom room will be included in a calendar invite sent to you by the axe-con organizers. We will review these logistical details in your scheduled technical check.
  • Will axe-con attendees be in my Zoom? Nope! Our A/V team will take your Zoom video feed and stream it to a YouTube video player on your session page.
  • Will there be live captions and ASL in my session? All sessions will have live captions and remote ASL.
  • How will I receive my presenter payment after Axe-Con? Laura will contact you to coordinate payment after Axe-Con if you opted in to receive payment.
