Section 508 Compliance Seminar on Feb. 21st – a word from Debbie Demarzo

2013 is a big year for 508 compliance and web accessibility. A few weeks ago, the Executive Office of the President released its Strategic Plan for Improving Management of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act; and the Section 508 refresh, which will update and more closely align section 508 regulations with WCAG guidelines, is within our sites. Beyond the Federal government, there are an increasing number of precedent-setting legal cases concluding that the ADA applies to web content and mobile applications.

Deque has a great deal of experience working with Federal and State government agencies to make their web content accessible and providing 508 compliance training. We have spent the past year working as the primary contractor on the Department of Veterans Affairs Section 508 Program – one of the largest 508 compliance projects in the Federal government. Deque also draws a great deal of insight from our extensive experience with the commercial and educational industries, not to mention accessibility advocacy groups.

We are very excited to share our expertise and insights with you at our free Section 508 Seminar at the National Press Club next Thursday, February 21st. I am personally looking forward to having the opportunity to reach out to everyone in attendance and to offer my assistance as we all face the challenges of 508 compliance together.

If you have not yet registered for the seminar, I encourage you to do so.  And I look forward to meeting you next Thursday!

Debbie is Director of Business Development at Deque Systems.
