Deque Systems has been appraised at Level 2 of the CMMI Institute's Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) for both the development (CMMI -DEV 1.3) and services (CMMI - SVC 1.3) constellations.

The eight month long effort involved two teams representing software development and services departments, respectively. The appraisal was conducted by Quality Waves Global Solutions, an SEI partner, using Standard CMMI® Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI v1.3). CMMI appraisal establishes that Deque has processes in place that ensure the high quality of our web accessibility products, services, and software development projects.

As a leading technology provider of end-to-end, integrated web accessibility solutions, Deque has been working with government agencies, Fortune 500 companies, and small to midsized businesses to make their web content and applications accessible to users with disabilities since 1999.

What is a Level 2 Appraisal?

Level 2 appraisal denotes that Deque has established well-defined and repeatable working processes and can achieve controlled results that adhere to CMMI advocated methodologies. The process areas for CMMI Level 2 have helped us establish effective best practices and standards for critical business areas including project management, requirements management, measurement of project metrics, and quality assurance. Deque's approach to information accessibility is now based on a framework that is rapid, flexible, and scalable with transparency and customer involvement.

"It is really about being focused on the quality of work we produce for our customers," said Preety Kumar, CEO,  " and the process efficiencies that the CMMI model brings to the table are a direct benefit to them."

The CMMI model was sponsored by the Department of Defense and developed by Carnegie Mellon University's SEI. It is a process improvement approach that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective working and process models to improve their performance. CMMI is recognized as the standard for independent benchmarking within industry for maturity in critical, technical, and managerial processes.
